The University of Queensland Cycling Club and Triathlon Club are collaboratively running two courses to build the skills and confidence of road cyclists. These courses are aimed separately at both beginner and advanced cyclists, and commence on March 18th, 2021. They run weekly at 5:15am every Thursday for 6 weeks, at a total cost of $90 ($15/week). If you are interested in signing up for either of these courses, please email firstname.lastname@example.org to organise payment and secure your spot.
Beginners Road Cycling Program
Aimed at introducing beginner road cyclists to their bike, the road, and general riding skills. In this course you can expect to learn about essential skills such as balance, braking, cornering, and gear selection. You will also gain a mechanical understanding of your bike and its components, as well as how to maintain and care for them. Finally, you will be introduced to group riding, group safety, and general road safety.
These skills are designed to help give new riders the confidence needed to join in with the Cycling Club or Triathlon Club in their training rides, and get the most out of their sessions.
Advanced Road Cycling Program
Aimed at taking experienced cyclists to the next level of competition. Whether you’re a triathlete looking to dabble in the world of road racing, or a crit racer looking to move up a category, this is the course for you. Build your confidence in descending and cornering. Learn essential race-craft skills to keep yourself fresh, or tire an opponent, and time your sprints to perfection.
This course is designed around various aspects of road racing and competition. A moderate to high level of experience and skill is required for this course, and is not aimed at beginner cyclists.
